Rest in Peace: My friend, Aaron Felts. A strange thing happened when I learned of his death. Reached the phone and immediately tried to call him, surely this is an error-- I simply could not believe he was gone. We just talked last month, and I was in a rush. I said so little on our last chat, now I long for yesterday.
Aaron Felts is a dedicated recruiter and musician. He had passion for life and learning his trade and commitment to helping people. He "got" social media because he loved people and loved making a difference. Aaron played guitar in a Beatles tribute band, he loved a large range of music and we talked music and lyrics, recruiting, politics, and life often.
"How often he would ask, how can we make a difference, I mean REALLY make a difference in people's lives? "
We used to have a weekly conference call about social media recruiting back in 2010. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a sweet southern Texas style. When I got too busy from 2010-2013 he kept me up to date on news and current events.
It was just a month or so ago, we talked, he was all excited to talk to me about perspective, "Dawn, what about this recruiting tool, do you remember us talking about it a few years ago?" Yea I did, "Well now that you are an IT Job Seeker what do you THINK of the tool from a JOB SEEKERS perspective?" "What Social Media Utility does the most good for the JOB SEEKER?" This would be the nature of our relationships, how can we use the tools best, how can we make a difference. People, process, and technology.
Aaron would never hesitate to introduce job seeking friends to recruiter friends or vice versa, because he 'got' the reciprocal value of being a good friend and professional. Someone like that is never unemployed long, he proved that, and encouraged others.
Aaron, I applaud your authenticity, your integrity, your friendship. I am sorry for your sickness, I am sorry you left us so soon. My friend I will miss you so very much and all our solving the problems of the world, and creating opportunities for others.
